McCormick Home Ranch Summer Wedding | Reina + Richard
Oct 14th
Sunflowers, lemons, vintage inspired, whimsical, intimate, ribbons, bow ties, BBQ goodness…
I met Reina & Richard at one of my weddings back in 2008 and I was literally screaming for joy when she contacted me right after she got engaged. I found myself from the get-go loving them for their incredible intelligence, and their humongous hearts. All those things and so many more make them great clients friends. Working with them to create their whimsical DIY wedding was so much fun and they truly embraced my role as their Wedding Planner allowing for open communication and trust; this made the whole process much more enjoyable especially when they were planning a destination wedding from Virginia.
They dreamed of having a backyard wedding so McCormick Home Ranch was a perfect back drop for their 4th of July weekend celebration.
Sunflower was Reina’s favorite flower so we decided to incorporate them everywhere from the boutonnieres to centerpieces. The invitation was sent out through facebook, bride’s friend started designing the wedding gown, groom’s friend baked the cake and mini desserts, and the flowers were put together by her close friends. Everything from the wish well tree, popcorn snack as the escort cards, card box, programs, pom poms, and centerpieces were all hand-made. We rented some vintage furniture and I designed the dessert wagon using lots of ribbons, chiffon fabrics and fun props incorporating their color. Their best friend officiated the wedding making it meaningful and the groomsmen wore tuxedo printed tee shirts specially made for them. I loved their fashion style and no detail was overlooked.
Guests enjoyed the festive BBQ and taking photos inside the vintage photo booth. Their family + friends played a huge role in helping them throw the wedding of their dreams. It all came together to create a wedding that would truly make anyone’s heart flutter.
R2, being at your wedding made me fall deeper in love with the wedding planning because you gave me the freedom to just be. Thank you for your trust and encouragement…it really goes to show just what an amazing couple you are and the limitless possibilities ahead. xoxo, Katie
A fairy tale bride.
I would frame this…
Look at her cute toes…
The dapper groom & his cool entourage.
Adorable bridesmaids!
So fresh and vibrant!
This is so Reina & Richard… just being goofy and smiling all day.
2 Wine barrels + vintage door makes a perfect table!
Have you ever seen a blossoming popcorn tree?
Kangaroo paws is my new favorite flower! A special thanks goes out to Yowon who helped arranged them.
The sunflowers greeted the guests…hello!
It took me 2 hrs to set up under 100 degree weather but it was definitely worth it!
I want that wagon.
And I couldn’t help sharing this sweet words from the bride and groom on Weddinwire… this is exactly why I love being a wedding planner.
” My husband and I were planing our wedding in California from Virginia. We truly needed someone who is really professional and responsible. The best thing my hubby and I ever did was hire katie as a wedding planner. Katie was professional, considerate, and responsible. She was available whenever we needed her and I was amazed at how organized Katie is. There is no way we could have a such a perfect wedding without katie. Her service was extraordinary and she has an amazing sense of style. She always listened to our ideas and helped us achieve our wedding dreams come true! She did evertything she can for us. My husband and I felt like she is one of our family member. She worked and helped from her warm heart. We loved every moment of our wedding. Our wedding was truly PERFECT and ADORABLE!!! We are so grateful to have her as our planner. She is absolutely wonderful!!!!! We love Katie!! “
With much love,
Reina and Rich
Temescal Canyon & Westwood Engagement Photos | Janis + Riki
Oct 12th
Great Couple, Great Location, Perfect Weather, you can’t ask for much more than that. Who knew that such an amazing place was tucked away in the Santa Monica Mountains? And near one of my favorite hiking trails!?
Janis & Riki’s Temescal Canyon + Westwood engagement photos turned out so charming and natural (especially their face expressions tell all)…captured beautifully by Christine Chang. Janis and I are huge dog lovers; we both have a same kind (Maltese – Simba, I miss him already)! We both love purple (that’s her wedding color too) and drinks boba occasionally. These are just a few of many reasons why we clicked so much.
Well, they just got married last weekend so I can’t wait to share their wedding photos with you! Until then, hope enjoy a few of my favorite images below.
J + R: Your wedding was amazing and I was honored to be a small part of the day you married your best friend. Enjoy Hawaii and be sure to eat spam musubi and think of me. I mean, why wouldn’t you be thinking of me on your honeymoon?!
xoxo Katie.

Dreamy Wedding Gowns by Maria Lucia Hohan
Oct 9th
Feast your eyes on these beautiful, feminine dresses by Romanian designer Maria Lucia Hohan for her Fall/Winter 2010-2011 bridal collection.
I love the silk ribbons, the bows, the pastel tones {pale blush pink is my favourite colour in the whole world at the moment}, the silhouettes, the ruffles and the reams of frothy tulle!
